Trending - The Sculptural
Within the last year or so, I've seen a tremendous amount of stiffly dimensional clothing surface and make its way into everyday fashion. Neoprene shirts, scuba skirts, and cocoon shaped tops seem to be everywhere! While I'm not suggesting we start wearing wet suits to the office, a piece here and there of these bonded and boxy sculptural styles will go a long way to modernize your over all look. Like, for instance, this bonded merino-linen t-shirt...
Sweater: J Crew 'Collection Bonded Merino-Linen T' (On Sale - a few left!) // Blouse: Thrifted (Men's Express, Similar HERE & HERE) // Pants: Thrifted (from the men's section, similar HERE & HERE) // Shoes: Vince Camuto // Clutch: Thrifted // Necklace: J Crew (Lots to choose from HERE) // Sunglasses: Thrifted (Similar HERE & HERE)
Perhaps thee defining feature of this trend is in the way the garment sits on the body, or rather, away from the body. Sculptural clothing isn't designed to drape the curves of the human form, but instead it as a pedestrian hanger on which to display its own form.
Wanna add this trend to your repertoire of fashion? What should you be looking for exactly? Fluted skirts, pleated trousers, and cocoon shaped shirts and jackets are the easiest to wear and most quintessential pieces of the sculptural clothing trend.
