What I Wore to KCFW 'Union Station Friday Show'
Jumpsuit: Forever 21 (Sold Out, Similar) // Shoes: Steve Madden // Clutch: Clare V. // Choker: J Crew (Love this one!) // Bangles: J Crew // Pendant Necklace: Thrifted (Similar, LOVE this one too!) // Sunglasses: Forever 21 (Similar (Designer), Love these too!)
There are three things I want to hit when dressing for an evening fashion show. I want to look MODELY, I want to look COOL, and I want to look AUTHENTIC. Pretty? Whatevs. Approachable? Who cares. Sexy? I guess. People will always stare: I want to make it work their while.
I love this jumper (last seen HERE) because it's flowy looseness skims my body in a way that makes me look really really tall and hides my lumps and 'imperfections' enough to shave ten pounds off my sillhouette. Boom, done, MODELY.
The overall vibe of the jumpsuit hits the mark of what I love about fashion this fall: ultra-luxe Halston Seventies-glam with a dash of rock & rock grooviness. I wore on a long pendant necklace I thrifted forever ago (it's probably actually from the Seventies), grabbed my favorite leopard clutch to break up all the black, and threw on a pair of groovy round sunglasses I found last minute at none other than Forever 21. Boom, done, COOL.
Even though this pice wasn't brand-spanking-new like my first outfit to KC Fashion Week, I'm proud to have re-styled an exisitng piece from my wardrobe to reflect the changing season and the growing trends. This jumper nad I go way back (to summertime) which is probably why I felt so comfortable in it. Boom done, AUTHENTIC.
Fashion is fun, and I love hunting for the next 'it' pieces, but it was really nice to wear an old standby with as much grace as I would a brand new piece. Hmmmmm... words to live and dress by, I think.
