Well if the 'Twosie' (aka 'Co-ord') isn't the easiest trend to fulfill then I don't know what is. Who could have predicted the freshest way to style prints for Spring and Summer 2015 would be to match top and bottom exactly. It's like wearing a dress that's been cut in two. It's like mixing prints without actually mixing prints. While it's modern and totally of the moment, this matchy-matchy notion is actually completely retro. Ever seen that photo of Jackie Kennedy in yellow gingham? The mother of all that is American and classic is wearing a cropped top! And a matching midi skirt! And it's amazing!
Although the top half of the modern Co-ord is usually a cropped top, longer styles have a place too. I had been eyeing this Zara set since last fall and pounced when it finally went on sale this month. The cocoon cut is ladylike without being too girlish and I love the demure loudness of the checked print. Would it be weird if I went matchy-matchy all Summer long? Weird in a good way?
