Spring Fedora
Each season I tend to have a signature hat that I'll wear with just about anything for just about any reason. Throughout the entire winter season I was practically sleeping in my beanies and as the weather has turned towards spring these last few weeks, it ocurred to me I'll need a newer, lighter alternative to my winter go-to. Enter the wide brimmed fedora!
The trick to wearing this classic ala Spring 2015 is to tilt the hat back around the crown of you head, allowing a little bit of hair to frame your face underneath the brim. It's a different vibe than the Casablanca-esque eye slant; instead it's done in the spirit of 70s female icons. Think of Annie Hall's quirky backward tilt or Bianca Jagger's funky halo.
I learned quickly that getting the right fit is super important (obviously), but here's why: The hat I'm wearing fits snuggly on my head when worn across my forehead, but when I tilt it back it's loose enough to fly away if a gust of wind hit me in the face. Standard hat measurements are taken around the head, just above the ears, and over the forhead. My 'measurement' is much smaller when taken around the crown. Take this into consideration if buying your hat online.
