I love the personal liberation that comes from wearing clothing meant for movement. Like sneakers. I love those. Name a brand - Vans, Superga, New Balance, Converse, Nike, Puma - I've probably owned and shredded a pair. Not sayin' I'm total sneaker head, but I do appreciate the design and comfort of athletic shoes. My most recent sneaker gratitude is to J Crew for collaborating with Vans to bring me these grownup suede Sk8-His.
This shoe is perfect for those days when I don't want to stomp around in boots but it's too cold to wear anything without a sock and some insulation - they're the middle ground between ballet flats and Sorels. I'd wear these on Saturdays to the kids' games, to sporting events, errand running, or to casual get-togethers. They're like ankle boots, but sneakers! (Minus the ridiculous hidden wedge of past seasons.)
Writing this post got me thinking about my old Chucks; a pair of shoes that despite their ratty state will never leave my possession. I wear them around the house but won't take them out in public anymore. I feel like I have a contender for my NEW all-time-favorite sneaker. Like my chucks, they're kind of preppy, kind of punky, kind of classic, and totally androgynous - my favorites.
What's your favorite sneak?
