Mixed Prints
J Crew Biennial Satchel

Leaving the house in perfectly coordinated mixed prints always puts a little spring in my step! I love it because mixing prints is about breaking rules and demonstrating individuality (two of my favorite things). Achieving this look is actually really simple - and should be simple. If an outfit is starting to feel forced, you're probably not doing it right. Take a step back, simplify, and keep these few guidelines in mind.

Match prints that share a dominant color. My shirt and skirt share the color navy blue.

Match structured prints with loose prints. Like sailor stripes with paisley, polka dots with florals, plaid with animal print. (My observance of this rule is practically non existent - proof the 'rules' can be ignored!)

Tread lightly with accessories. All of my accessories are in the same neutral shades of black and camel - this pulls the look together and grounds the outfit.
