Mother Nature threw me a balmy 60 degree day this week so I took it upon myself to break out my new cropped flares and a sky-high pump. You don't waste weather like that on boots and tights!
Are you digging this new jean style as much as I am? I've been wanting to get more of this shape in my closet but have been hanging back a bit to see which iteration would suit me best. I thought about doing a denim gaucho; you know those big, voluminous, calf length, seventies styles with a giant cuff or frayed edge. Cute, and I love it on other people, but I never feel sexy in that cut. I thought about doing an abbreviated bellbottom; the ones that are super tight except for an exagerated bell right at the highwater mark. Edgy, and maybe someday, but it's still too 'conceptual' for my aging ass. In the end I chose this pair from Zara that's got an easy to wear midrise with a body hugging fit and a subtle crop and flare right above the ankle. I'm tucked in, lengthened, and flashing a demure little arc of ankle that would otherwise stay underwraps until spring. I absolutely live for these mini thaws!
